Ultrasound-guided Microfoam Sclerotherapy is a comprehensive treatment for all types and sizes of varicose veins (from bulging to thread or spider veins), chronic vein insufficiency, leg ulcers and venous malformations.
This procedure consists in finding the diseased vein with ultrasound scanning and injecting the sclerosing agent polidocanol, a vein wall irritant, made into Microfoam after mixing with a combination of physiologic gases. The miniature-sized bubbles, microbubbles, distribute the polidocanol uniformly along the inner wall of the vein, destroying it. This is followed by a mild inflammatory reaction, fibrosis and the eventual elimination of the varicose vein.
Venous blood flow improves in legs after removing varicose veins as these produce an overload on the veins that work properly. In addition, our body can produce new functional veins.
Microfoam Sclerotherapy is suitable for all kind of varicose veins, regardless of their size, morphology or location. The procedure is performed without anesthesia, on an outpatient basis and patients can immediately resume their daily activities.
